Ingredients 🍏🍯🌾🧈🍚
Ingredients for Apple Crumble
• 1 Large British Apple (or 1 Large Granny Smith Apple)
• 100g Brown Sugar (½ Cup)
• Cinnamon (to taste)
• Ginger (to taste)
• ¼ Squeeze Lemon (½ Teaspoon)
• 130g Flour (1 Cup)
• Salt (a pinch)
• 100g Butter (7 Tablespoons)
Ingredients for Cheat’s Custard
• 1 Tablespoon Powdered Custard
• 1 Tablespoon Sugar
• 200ml Milk (¾ Cup)
Method 📖
1. Preheat the oven: Set the oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. Prepare the dry ingredients: Weigh flour, salt, and sugar into a bowl.
3. Prepare the butter: Reserve a little butter for greasing the container. Cut the remaining butter into cubes and add to the flour mixture, rubbing it in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
4. Prepare the apples: Peel, core, and chop the apple into small pieces.
5. Season the apples: Sprinkle sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and a squeeze of lemon over the apples, then mix well.
6. Assemble the crumble: Butter the foil dish, then spoon the apple mixture into the bottom. Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the top, ensuring all apples are covered.
7. Bake the crumble: Place in the oven and bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.
8. Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven, spoon out a portion, and top with custard.
Don’t Forget! 📌
There are many different fruits you could use, like pears or peaches, or even some raisins to make it a bit sweeter. To make a crunchier crumble, use some rolled oats sprinkled over the top and add some Demerara sugar. Yum!
